Being involved in the preparation and administration of hazardous drugs, you may be concerned about exposure to these drugs and any resulting adverse effects.
To ensure a further level of safety, we have developed TevaGuard: another step to further reduce the risk of accidental exposure to outside contamination on drug vials.
What is TevaGuard?
TevaGuard is a transparent protective covering that is being applied to our cytotoxic drug vials.
To ensure our vials are as free as possible from external contamination, we have incorporated the important step of applying TevaGuard to our cytotoxic vials during the manufacturing process.
How does TevaGuard work?
TevaGuard is being applied to each vial. Vials are automatically filled, closures fitted and the vials are then washed to remove any surface contamination. TevaGuard is then applied to encase any potentially remaining residue.
TevaGuard also helps to contain spillages to an isolated area in the event of accidental breakage.
What happens if a vial is dropped?
If vials are accidentally dropped, TevaGuard maintains the integrity of the glass container, thereby minimising the spread of hazardous chemicals and broken glass.
Will I still be able to see the contents of the vial?
TevaGuard is fully transparent to allow unhindered visual inspection of the vial contents. Vial handling and use of spikes, etc remains unchanged.
Will we have to change our disposal methods?
Our TevaGuard design is not bulky but tightly fitted to vials so there’s no need to change your usual cytotoxic disposal methods.
